Today we’re gonna explain the phrases starts from あ、い、う、え、and お !!!
(=´∀`)人(´∀`=)
あ ・・・ああ言えばこう言う(ああいえばこういう)
This is a type of person or attitude that is not open to accepting advice and yet also a defiant, always makes an excuse or someone who always states the opposite opinion to avoid doing things.
ああ言う = say that
こう言う = say this
Ex; あの人はすぐにああ言えばこういうから、嫌になるよ。That guy/girl makes me tired because (s)he always has a comeback for everything.
い ・・・石橋を叩いて渡る(いしばしをたたいてわたる)
This is a stronger version of “Think twice before you speak.”
To be very conservative. To make a double check.
石橋 = stone bridge.
叩く= pound
渡る = cross
Even the stone bridge is 99% safe, you should pound the bridge to make double sure if it is really safe before you get across.
Ex; 日本は石橋を叩いて渡る文化です。Japan is a very conservative culture.
う ・・・うざい
Annoying.
Ex; 人混みがうざいから新宿には行きたくない。Because the crowds are so annoying, I don’t wanna go to Shinjuku.

え ・・・縁の下の力持ち(えんのしたのちからもち)
Someone who always try for somebody else like an unsung hero/backseat player.
縁側 = beneath the fringe
力持ち = powerful person
Ex; 私が成功できたのは、縁の下の力持ちとなってくれた家族がいたからです。Because of my family who is the power behind the scenes that always support me, I could succeed.
お ・・・お先にどうぞ(おさきにどうぞ)
After you/ please go ahead
Ex; At lunch, you are with your girlfriend, and the meal she ordered came first, then you can say 「お先にどうぞ」
