Useful and Practical Japanese Phrases Starting from た、ち 、つ、て、と (・ω・)

(๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) Let’s study 5 often used Japanese phrases.

Today we’re gonna explain the phrases starting from た、ち 、つ、て、and と!!!



た・・・たちの悪い~ (たち の わるい)Bad quality

たち(質)= quality/attitude/personality


  • たちの悪い bad quality of ~ (noun)

Ex. たちの悪い冗談 Bad joke.

Ex. たちの悪い友達 Bad friend.


ち・・・力を合わせる (ちから を あわせる) Work all together as a team/combine forces

ちから= power

合わせる=get together

  • 力を合わせ put all hands together
  • 力をあわせれば~できるIt can be possible to do ~ if we work all together

Ex. みんなで力を合わせこのプロジェクトを成功させよう!Let’s make this project a success altogether!

Ex. みんなの力を合わせれば、きっと完成できる!With our combined effort, we can make it!


つ・・・付き合う(つき あう)Doing something with someone/to have a relationship or friendship

  • ~に付き合う doing something for someone
  • 付き合う 人/友達/彼氏/彼女 people/friends/boyfriend/girlfriend to have friendship/relationship

Ex. 明日、友達の買い物付き合う約束をしてる。I made a promise with my friend to go to shopping.

Ex. 付き合うを選ぶ。I choose friends.


て・・・適当に(てきとう に )Without too much effort

適当=adequate, suitable

  • 適当に~する/やる。doing something without too much effort

Ex. 何でも、適当にやるのが一番。It is the best to work on anything that’s  not too much effort.

Ex. 彼に何か聞かれたら、適当に返事をするよ。If he asked something to me, I would say whatever.


と・・・時と場合 (とき と ばあい)Depending on time and situation

時= time

場合= situation

  • 時と場合による/時と場合によって~するdoing something depending on time and situation

Ex. やるかやらないかは、時と場合によるよ。Whether I do or not, it depends on time and the situation.

Ex. 時と場合によってしゃべり方を変える。I change how I talk depending on time and the situation.
