Japanglish is English loanwords in the Japanese characters, Katakana.


These are the words that many Japanese believe is English, but actually it’s Japanglish.

Free market フリーマーケット it’s actually flea market not free but in Japanglish many can’t tell the difference.

ラフ Rough → means very casual in Japan.

スマート Smart → thin/skinny

パン Pan → Bread

アイス Ice → ice cream

ナイーブ Naive → sensitive

バイキング Viking → Buffet

ハンドル Handle → Steering wheel
